American Glass and Doors is the DMV's glass and door team. Since 2018, we've kept storefronts secure, commercial doors opening and locking the way they should, and homes across Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia looking sharp.
Glass and doors are two different trades at most companies, which means two vendors, two invoices, and two people pointing fingers when something goes wrong. We do both, so one call covers the broken storefront, the door that won't latch, and the frame that needs refinishing after.
Most of our work is commercial: aluminum storefronts, commercial glass replacement, emergency board-ups, and doors that take a beating from daily traffic. Property managers and contractors call us because we show up when we say we will, secure the opening fast, and hand back an invoice their insurer can actually read. Homeowners get the same standard on windows, sliding doors, and mirrors.
Recent work across the DMV Commercial and residential
We don't chase the cheapest bid. If a repair will hold, we'll tell you and save you the cost of a full replacement. If replacement is genuinely the smarter call, we'll say that too. Either way, you get a straight answer before you get a quote.

Commercial Services
Built To Keep Your Business Running
When glass breaks or a door fails at your business, every hour it stays that way is lost revenue, a security gap, and a liability. We handle the full range of commercial glass and door work across Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, from a single cracked pane to a full storefront rebuild.
Our core work
Storefront & Aluminum Glass
Cracked, shattered, or just dated, your storefront is the first thing customers see and the first thing a break-in targets. We repair and replace commercial storefront and aluminum-framed glass fast, so your business stays open, secure, and looking the part. Where a repair will hold, that's what you'll get quoted, not a full front replacement.
A door that sticks, drags, or won't lock is a daily headache and a security risk. We repair and replace aluminum, glass, and hollow-metal doors, plus the closers, panic bars, hinges, and locks that make them work.
From office towers to retail buildouts, we replace commercial glass to code and on schedule. We measure on-site, source the right glass, and work around your business hours.
Banks, pharmacies, and high-traffic retail trust us for safety and bullet-resistant glass. We match the protection level to the space and install it clean, so it still looks like a storefront.
One vendor for every building in your portfolio. Recurring service, fast emergency response, one point of contact, and invoices that make sense at the line-item level.
Modern offices are built on light and openness without giving up privacy. We design and install glass partitions that carve out meeting rooms while keeping the floor bright.
Anyone can replace a pane of glass. Fewer will tell you the truth about whether you actually need to, show up the second it's urgent, and leave your building looking better than before.

The Craftsman Behind It
Glass And Doors Have Been Our Founder's Trade Since Age 13
Our founder learned this trade the old way, spending summers in Tunisia working alongside his uncle in the glass and door business, hands-on from the very start, back when a job wasn't finished until it was finished right. That apprenticeship became a career, and in 2018 it became a mission: bring honest glass and door work to Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia, the kind too many companies rush past on their way to the next invoice.
He started American Glass and Doors to restore pride in a trade that too often gets rushed, and to raise the standard for glass and door service across the region. That standard still runs through everything we do. Every storefront, every window, every door, commercial or residential, gets the same care as if it were our own building, our own home.
How It Works
One Crew, From The First Call To The Final Invoice
No handoffs between companies, no waiting on a second vendor. The same team that answers your call secures the property, does the work, and documents it.
Response
Call Dispatch
One call, and someone from our team answers, day or night. Tell us what happened and where, and we'll tell you what happens next.
Protection
Secure The Property
Our crew arrives fast to board up the damage and stop it from getting worse, color-matched where it's a storefront, so the risk is handled the same night.
Restoration
Repair, Replace & Refinish
We measure on-site, source the right glass and doors for the job, and install to code. Trim gets repainted and hardware set so the finished work reads as new.
Documentation
Hand Off The Invoice
You get a clear, itemized breakdown with photos, ready to hand your insurer the same day, nothing left for you to reconstruct later.
Most companies hand you a lump sum and call it a day, and then the claim stalls while an adjuster asks what exactly they're paying for. We break down labor, materials, and disposal cost by cost, attach photos of the damage and the finished work, and put it all on one clean invoice built to be approved, not questioned.
We're not part of your claim and we won't pretend to be, we just make filing it simple. For property managers and business owners dealing with a break-in or storm damage, that paperwork is often the difference between a reimbursement that clears in days and one that drags for weeks.

Home Glass & Door, Repaired Or Installed, Done Right
The same team that handles commercial storefronts brings that standard home. Need something fixed or something brand new put in? We'll tell you plainly which one actually makes sense, and never push you into more than the job calls for.
Sliding & Patio Doors
Usually a repair
A sliding door that sticks, drags, or won't lock isn't just annoying, it's a security worry. More often than not it's a worn roller or a dirty track, not the whole door. We repair and replace sliding and patio doors so they glide smoothly and lock securely again.
Custom-cut shower enclosures and mirrors, measured and installed to fit your space exactly, with clean edges and a finish that lasts. Whether you're updating a bathroom or replacing a cracked mirror, we handle the measuring and the install so it fits right the first time.
Glass railings and skylight installs that bring light and a modern, open feel into any home, installed safely and cleanly. It's a finish that makes a space feel bigger and brighter without heavy framing in the way.
That foggy look between the panes is usually a failed seal, easily fixed without touching the frame. Cracked or broken glass gets the same straight assessment: repaired where it holds, replaced only where it genuinely needs to be. Starting fresh with a new window instead, whether it's storm damage, an upgrade, or new construction, we cut and install it to fit exactly right.

Front window
We accidentally broke a pane of our front window on Friday evening, just days before Christmas. Despite the bad timing, American was very polite and prompt, and our window was good as new by Christmas Eve! Excellent customer service, reasonable prices, and the work was done quicker than other companies quoted us as well. Definitely recommend them!

Every review here is a real one from our Google Business Profile, in the customer's own words.
We dispatch as soon as you call. Someone from our team answers day or night, and most emergency board-ups throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia are handled the same night. Replacement glass typically follows within 1-2 days.
Do you serve both homeowners and businesses?
Yes. Commercial storefronts, glass, and doors are our specialty and where most of our work is, but we bring the same standard to residential glass and door repair, from foggy windows to sliding doors and custom mirrors.
Can you help with my insurance claim?
Yes. We provide before-and-after photos and an itemized invoice, so filing is simple and fast. We're not part of the claim itself, we just hand you documentation your insurer can approve without back-and-forth.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, fully licensed, bonded, and insured, with a Certificate of Insurance available on request, something property managers and contractors often need on file before work begins.
Do you repair glass, or only replace it?
Both, and we lead with repair whenever it makes sense financially and structurally. See "Window Glass, Repaired Or Installed" above for how we make that call.
What types of glass do you work with?
Everything from tempered and laminated safety glass to Low-E and custom insulated glass, cut to fit any commercial or residential project. We'll match the right glass to the job and explain the difference in plain terms.
Ready When You Are
